This community needs you! Volunteer with DECA!

Spring has sprung which means there is a lot happening in the community – a yard sale and the weekly Farmer’s Market are just two of DECA’s current projects.  These only happen with the support of our local businesses and volunteers — and DECA would love for you to be part of the action.

How can you become more actively involved?  We all lead busy lives that do not always leave us with a lot of time for other things.  With DECA, there is literally something for everyone whether you have an hour to give or can make a regular commitment.

Public Board Meeting: May 29th 2024 at 7 p.m.

One way to get involved is to attend DECA’s public board meeting  on Wednesday, May 29 at 7pm. We will be gathering at Ampersand Bakehouse, 1808 Danforth (and enjoying some of the cookies that will be featured at this year’s market!). Join us to learn more about what role DECA plays in the community or to tell us what you would like to see happen in our ongoing efforts to make this a vibrant and connected neighbourhood.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Weekly Farmer’s Market: Thursdays from 3 until 7 p.m. starting on June 6th 2024

Our weekly Farmers’ Market only happens because of our fabulous and committed volunteers. Currently a small but mighty group, we are in need of more hands to help out.  It can be an hour here and an hour there or a more regular commitment.  Check out all of the areas where we need help and perhaps sign up for a spot or two.  Most of the jobs at the market are also appropriate for teens and the market team is happy to sign their Community Service Forms. You can click on the link here to sign up:

(note – if this signup doesn’t work, email OR wait until Monday night – we are waiting on the developer to fix our plan)

In the interest of reducing plastic waste at the market, we are also planning to have cloth produce bags available to give away. If you are interested in sewing for this, please contact Rebecca at Instructions (and inspiration) can be found here:

Most immediately, we are looking for a few people to help with a postcard drop to promote the market over the next two weeks. If you are able to do a block or two, please email Gulnigar at

Yard Sale – Saturday June 8

We are looking for people to help with the multi-seller sale at Kimbourne Park United Church (200 Wolverleigh) throughout the day. We will also need people to help take in and sort donations for the Clothing and Small Appliance Drive to benefit New Circles and Kennedy House Youth Shelter.

If you have some time to volunteer, please sign up here – we can use all the help we can get:
