Tool Library Update – please read and share

A crowdfund campaign, Kitchen Library and all the benefits of being a supporter – read this note from Ryan at the Tool Library, and spread the word about this soon-to-be amazing Danforth East resource!

________________

Dear all,

We at the Toronto Tool Library have just launched a crowdfund campaign to complete renovations and set-up our new Tool Library & Makerspace for success. To open our doors this fall, we need to fundraise $16,000 in the next 26 days!  There are many ways to help: Purchase a membership now to save money, get great rewards like event tickets, 3D prints and t-shirts or share this video!

Click Here to Watch the Video!

The new location at 1803 Danforth (near Coxwell station) will be an expanded resource library alongside a Makerspace workshop. The Makerspace will be a community hub with 24/7 secure access for members, a fully stocked wood-working shop, 3D printers, a Laser Cutter, youth programming and more. The facility will also host the upcoming Kitchen Library, complete with culinary and household items like juicers and bread makers.

Thanks!

Movie Night Magic & BIA Fun on Sunday

Movie Night Magic!

Who had a blast watching a movie under the stars last night? I did! And so did about 150 of your neighbours.  The rain held off during the day so bums could stay dry as we all took in the comedic genius of Rob Reiner’s Princess Bride.

Thank you to Councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon for not only sponsoring the evening but also popping all popcorn for movie goers to enjoy!

We also want to give a special shout out to local environmental steward Bruce Crofts.  We’ve mentioned how thankful we are of Bruce’s wife Susan for her tireless work watering the trees by Valu-mart.  Well, after the market yesterday we were surprised at the amount of litter in the park.   Bruce went home and got his special litter bag and poker stick and spent the evening cleaning up the park.  Thank your commitment to making our neighborhood clean and beautiful, Bruce!

DECA Is Pinning!

Before we get to the round-up of weekend fun, a head’s up for Pinterest fans–DECA is now on Pinterest thanks to volunteer extraordinaire Vicki Ziegler. Our boards are a celebration of the east end businesses, resources, events and stories about the ‘hood. We’re aiming to include everyone eventually, but in the meantime you can help by sending us ideas and links for us to pin at info(at)danfortheastcommunityassociation.com.

Check out our Pinterest account here. While you’re at it, you’ll also want to check out our Facebook page for up-to-the minute events and happenings. And if you like your news in 140 characters, we’re here for you too on Twitter.

3) have fun

Meet up at 6:45 pm by the doors of Coxwell station when the top secret “mobbing” destination will be revealed.

Saturday: Check out the Pop-up Shops

There isn’t actually an event planned for Saturday, but if you haven’t yet, why not check out the pops before these temporary shops are gone?
