Check out what’s on at the East Lynn Farmers’ Market this Thursday, August 15th, 3-7pm:

On top of our farmers and local food vendors this week we have:

    • Playpass will be there with one of their partners – Kapow, a sports centre, specializing in wrestling and jiu jitsu classes. They will run multiple sports and fitness activities AND have a drawing table for younger children!
    • At 4:00 pm and 4:45pm Guerilla Ruffians theatre troupe will have improv performances

The Market This Week: Thursday, July 25th

     

Check out what’s on at the East Lynn Farmers’ Market this Thursday, July 25th 3-7pm.

On top of our amazing, local food vendors this week we have:

  • Kids’ Tent:
    • The YMCA of Greater Toronto will have a button making activity for the kids and info on their new facility. In 2020, they will open the Toronto Kingston Road YMCA — a 60,000-square-foot Centre of Community located in the Beaches neighbourhood, near Kingston Road and Victoria Park Avenue. And, at the top of each hour, at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00pm, instructor Karina will be doing demos of a dance based fitness class called Arriba!
  • Community Wellness Booth:
    • Healing Collective is a holistic and comprehensive collective of psychotherapists and allied health practitioners to meet the therapeutic needs of the community with the aims of:
      • Providing Danforth East with comprehensive therapeutic services
      • A community-based solution for the isolation/lack of community that many practitioners experience in private practice
      • A welcoming, helpful incubator environment for practitioners moving into private practice

Market this week: Pride!

For the 4th year in a row, DECA Pride is pleased to present Pride at the Market!

This Thursday, June 20 from 4-7pm at East Lynn Park, here’s what’s in store (note that the farmers are there starting from 3:00pm onward):

Art Activityshow your pride and make your own flag to represent yourself / what you are proud of, hosted by the fantastic creatives at Create Art Studio, located at 1801 Danforth (this amazing studio has it all, classes, camps, parties, corporate events!)

Photo booth & more!  Monarch Park Collegiate’s Queer Straight Alliancewill set up and run Pride photo booths (rainbow and pink) for all the photo ops. They will also be handing out stickers, sunglasses and wristbands (generously donated by TD Bank!), and will have a “Count the Skittles” contest going throughout the market.

Music: The fantastic Coe Hill Girls are back with us for another year and will be filling the park with their awesome jams from 5-6pm

Story and craft: TRANSvolution, a local trans group, has teamed up with our friends at Silly Goose Kids to host readings of Rory’s Rainbow at 4:15 and 5:15pm, followed by a related craft. (See poster below) This beautiful story talks about identity expression, gender stereotyping and acceptance and is not widely available in stores.  Stop by Silly Goose at 2054 Danforth after the event on Thursday to buy your copy AND you’ll receive a special LoveisLove package.

DECA’s Strolling with Seniors Walking Club!

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a weekly seniors walking club aimed at connecting folks in the community and enjoying the beauty of our neighbourhood!

The guided walks will occur every Tuesday at 10am,  from June 11 – September 3, and will depart fro the top of East Lynn Park.

All are welcome (even if you aren’t a senior!) and leashed pups can join the fun.

Don’t forget to bring comfortable walking shoes, appropriate sun protection, and water to drink – and make sure to tell a friend!

Throughout the summer we will also host post-walk events with experts in the community who will give free talks on topics relevant to the group.

The Market This Week: Bikes and Tents and Wine – Oh My!

The wait is over! Our first market of the season is here!

On top of the yummy, local food vendors this week we have:

  • Parks Canada’s Learn-to Camp team will show your kids the basics of camping. Come and learn about how to set up a tent, camp cooking, fire safety, and much more!

  • 32 Spokes doing bike repairs and simple tune ups

  • Chateau des Charmes Winery offering tastings

  • Live music – Classical Guitarist, Joseph Landau
