The Urban Land Institute (ULI) has applied their multi-disciplinary expertise to the TTC Barns project at Danforth & Coxwell. They will convene a webinar, TAP: Revitalizing the Danforth Garage Car Barns on Wednesday November 9th at noon to conclude their study of this historic site and project.
To register for the webinar click here: ULI Toronto: Danforth Garage Technical Assistance Panel (TAP): Revitalizing the Danforth Garage Car Barns and when prompted, if you are not a ULI member add the promo code DANFORTH1109 for your free registration.
If you are unable to attend at this time, DECA will send out a link to the YouTube video of the webinar after the event.
DECA looks forward to hearing the insights and recommendations of the ULI panel.

Get ready for the Pumpkin Parade in East Lynn!

The pumpkin parade is back in East Lynn! Bring your pumpkin (and candle) to the park on November 1 and line it up with the rest of the community’s. This is always one of our favourite events – magical jack-o-lanterns, kids playing in the dark, neighbours enjoying a night out in the festive aftermath of Halloween. We hope you can make it!

If you are available to volunteer, we could use marshals/candle-lighters to work 545-8pm, and clean up crew to work 8-830pm. Clean up crew get to toss the pumpkins into the big city compost bins, a surprisingly fun job (especially for a team of very active 8year old cub scouts, as we had last year!)

Email info@deca.to (or just respond to this post) if you have questions or would like to volunteer!

All-Candidates Meeting Video and Gratitude

Democracy in action on Danforth East

Last Friday, October 14 your friendly neighbourhood association (that’s us!) hosted an all-candidates meeting at Hope United Church. It was an extremely well-attended event, with about 150 people there in person, and 50+ people watching the live broadcast. All of the candidates showed their commitment to this community and this position with grace and eloquence. We hope that hearing from them helped people make their very important decision in advance of voting day on October 24!
This event was a whole-board effort!
Thank you to…
Fahreen Ladak (DECA Chair) and Betty Zou (DECA board member) for moderating
Andrea Nichols Egan for taking care of food, childcare and budget
Jordan D’Souza for running sound
Raktim Mitra for video
Jade Woodruffe and Betty for compiling community questions, Jade for time-keeping
Rebecca Green for organizing
Audrey Kvedaras and Jenn MacDonald for everything else!
Thanks to Pavilion Pastries (that delicious cafe beside Main Subway) for the post-meeting refreshments!
