Market this Week – celebrate Pride!

DECA Pride is happy to be hosting the 3rd annualĀ DECAĀ PRIDEĀ @ The Market on June 21st from 3-7pm.

As always, the East Lynn Farmers’ Market is all about supporting the farmers. This week we are layering on a Pride celebration in honour of our thriving east end LGBTQ+ community and all of the wonderful allies who also live here. Pride isn’t just a downtown thing – join us as we bring Pride to the east end!

Over the course of the afternoon, we’ll have the amazing facepainters, pride-themed arts and crafts with Silly Goose Kids and Create Art Studio and we’re happy to welcome back the Coe Hill Girls, who will perform from about 5-6pm.

The winery on hand will beĀ Chateau des Charmes, and some of the farmers and vendors may even have some pride-themed specials just for us!

Facebook event is hereĀ in case you want to invite others.

This event is sponsored byĀ Steve’s Quality Meats and Deli (1938 Danforth). Steve’s approached DECA Pride last year asking how they can support us, and this is their second year sponsoring our market event! Steve’s is right across the street from East Lynn Park, so be sure go by any day for amazing cuts of meat, deli meat, cheeses, prepared food and hot food to go! You will not be sorry that you did.

If you are looking to take it to the next level, stop into Silly Goose on your way over and grab some of their Pride gear – kids clothes, buttons, and other treasures. Or buy some of the other high quality toys, crafts, baby goods and other fun stuff!

Create Art StudioĀ is a newish Danforth East business located just eat of Coxwell and they have classes for kids, youth, and adults as well as PA Day and summer camps and after-school programs. Oh, and they do birthday parties and wine nights too! Thanks to Jen and the Create team for helping us celebrate Pride!

Last but not least, thanks to corbin creative for designing the poster – another amazing local business.

DECA Pride was started by DECA to bring together the east end LGBTQ+ community and create spaces and events right here in the east end where we live. Allies are always welcome.Ā For more information or to join the DECA Pride email list, visitĀ DECA.to/PrideĀ or send us anĀ email.

HAPPYĀ PRIDE!!Ā

THURSDAY: East Lynn Park Farmers’ Market – Grand Opening

Our first week of the market was a spectacular day — everyone and their toddler was out to enjoy the sunshine and picnic on fresh strawberries and french fries in the park.Ā  How do we top that?
This week for our grand opening, we will have more food and more fun for the whole family.Ā  Here are the activities we have lined up:
  • HOOP ZONE:Ā Join in with Hoopersonic from 3:30-5:30 p.m. HooperSonic (est. 2015) is the brightly coloured, fun and friendly, business baby of Toronto Beaches resident Amy MacCutchan; Mom boss, chief hula hooper, and fabulous fitness cheerleader. She has been happily hoop dancing her way around town since 2011.
  • KIDS’ ART TIME: The lovely team from Create Art Studio will be in the face paint tent at 4:30 p.m. Create Art Studio is a welcoming community art school encouraging creative exploration for kids, teens, and adults through classes, workshops, events and more!Ā Check out their website to find programming.
  • TABLETOP GAMING: From 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Face to Face Games will be running Table Tabletop fun for the whole family.
  • COMMUNITY WELLNESS BOOTH: We welcome back Pegasus Studio this week.Ā  Pegasus is a dance and art studio dedicated to creating a safe and creative space from children to grow and learn. They want their students to have success in dance and life and love having a strong community focus. We don’t teach kids to make great dancers, we teach dance to make great kids.

And, the winery this week will beĀ 13th Street .

Culinary volunteer Angela delivers meals to the farmers

Volunteering at the Farmers’ Market

If you’d like to get involved, we’re always looking for more volunteers as DECA Booth Volunteers, which basically means you get to chat with a lot of great people each week.Ā  And of course, our market is legendary for the warm and welcoming meals that we provide to our farmers.Ā  Each week a volunteer or team of culinary volunteer cooks prepares dinner for the people that bring us fresh, local food each week.Ā  It’s our way of saying thanks.Ā  Click on the links above to learn more or contact market@deca.to for other ways to contribute.
