Market this Week, and Circus Shadows

Market this week

It’s fall. That means there’s a whole new crop of vegetables and fruit available from the farmers. This week we’ll also have Toronto Public Library storytime at 4:30 p.m. and and an activity with Silly Goose Kids at 5:00 p.m. We’re also busy planning for October 4th’s Harvest festivities courtesy of SugarMoon and Alterna Savings. There’s going to be fun of the animal and bouncy variety… stay tuned! You won’t want to miss it.

Circus Shadows

From September 20 until October 14th S Sense in Design at 698 Coxwell Avenue is presenting a unique art show – Circus Shadows. It’s a unique collection showcasing a collaboration between Zero Gravity Circus and photographer Kathleen Finlay. They’re also hosting a special reception this Friday September 28th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.

The Joys of June

June can be a busy month so get out your calendars and mark down these dates.

 Farmers’ Market Fifth Anniversary Festival

I know what you’re thinking…this is NOT the fifth year of the farmers’ market! I KNOW!  That’s what I thought too, but we all hunkered down and thought about it for a while and yes indeed, we are embarking on the fifth year of this little experiment.

Join us this Thursday as we celebrate five years fabulous. There will be lots of great activities and a very awesome new farmers’ market feature to be unveiled.  Watch this space for more info. The market runs each Thursday, 3-7 p.m. at East Lynn Park, on Danforth, west of Woodbine.

S Sense in Design

S Sense in Design is a design studio that provides furniture, lighting and home accents. The products and art are made of eco-friendly, natural materials that are handcrafted in Canada. And it’s more than a shop. Owner, Laura Walters is a stylist who can help you find a style for your home with colour consultations, healthy home advice, upholstery service or wallpaper selection.

If you’re looking for a reason to visit, why not drop in on Sunday, June 24th from 12-4 p.m. for a Magical Tea Party. Enjoy a cup of tea from Tea Emporium, scones from Cake Town Cafe and the artwork of Mafalda Silva.  RSVP to Laura at Ssenseindesign@hotmail.com or 647-519-7743.

If that’s not your cup of tea, you may want to visit on Thursday, June 28th from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.for the opening of Armandine In The Garden.

S Sense in Design is at 698 Coxwell, step north of Danforth.

S Sense in Design

Have you noticed that cute little store on Coxwell just north of Danforth. It’s called S Sense in Design and it is hosting the art of Mafalda Silva. The exhibition will be displayed from April 26th – June 27th.  S Sense in Design is at 698 Coxwell Avenue and is open Thursday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m to 4 p.m.

Fuzz Box

Check out the East End Pioneer’s blog post on a new restaurant on the Danforth, The Fuzz Box (insert your own joke here). They specialize in a Nova Scotia donair. And if you don’t know what that is, then you better stop in and find out.

The Groove Bar

Speaking of restaurants, I took my little boys to the Groove Bar tonight for dinner. Yes, I took my young children to a bar for dinner.  Now, before you get all righteous and judgemental on me…actually I have no good excuse, you can feel free to be righteous and judgemental. Anyway, the food was good and Mama, the owner, was perfectly delightful. We played foosball and had a great time. So there.

Logical Consequences

It probably stands to reason that following the proliferation of bakeries would come the proliferation of gyms and exercise studios. You may already know that I pump iron at Legacy Studio, and there is also now Bomb Wellness and (coming soon) Tidal CrossFit – all on Danforth west of Coxwell. For those of you with babes in arms, you may want to try out Legacy’s Mommy and Me class on Mondays at 3:30 p.m. I hear it’s great fun and a great workout.
