Merrily, merrily Shop Re-opens Saturday

Handmade whale
Handmade whale ready to take home from Merrily, merrily.

Happy news for the parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles of Danforth East! Merrily, merrily is re-opening their pop-up shop – this Saturday, January 10 at 10am – in their new home: 1854 Danforth Ave (right near Oaks ‘n’ Acorns). They’ll be popping up for 6 months (and if we’re lucky, they might just decide to make this their forever home).

The store hours will be 10 to 6, Tuesday – Saturday, and 11 to 4 on Sundays.

If you haven’t checked them out online yet (merrilymerrily.ca), Moxie and Jane carry gently used and very lovely clothing and goods for children, and they sell unique handmade and upcycled pieces by members of our own community. Isn’t the denim whale totally charming? In the upcycled category, they also have reversible, full-body bibs; cool superhero aprons; and neck-cowls made from hockey socks (does it get more Canadian than that kind of cold-weather, artful ingenuity?!).

They’re a consignment shop so your purchases also help out other parents in the neighbhourhood. Jane and Moxie say they are always looking for wooden toys and puzzles, classic books, Padraig slippers, Toms, Converse, Bogs, designer clothing and any other baby and children’s clothing or linens in pristine, like-new condition — so if you have any of those, you have an extra reason to pop in for a visit!

Goodbye to Yummy Stuff and E-Closet

Since they opened their doors in June, we’ve come to know and love our pop-up shop friends at Yummy Stuff bakery (1938 Danforth) and E-Closet women’s clothing store (1801 Danforth). So we’re sad to report that both will be closing later this month.

Yummy Stuff’s last day is November 15th, but, happily for fans of delicious baked goods, they are investigating more permanent options in the ‘hood. Morag is also trying to figure out the best way to temporarily service her new east end fans…stay tuned…

E-Closet will be closing after November 30th, but you can keep in touch and continue to shop with Natasha at her online store. And be sure to take advantage of her closing sale: Take an EXTRA 15% OFF E-Closet’s already low prices! Just in time to stock up on Christmas gifts. (Bamboo bottoms not included.)

And don’t forget our other two pop-ups, In This Closet (1765 Danforth) and Cheap Thrills (1811 Danforth). Both are still open and have fantastic new items in stock. We’ve spied lots of winter coats and boots at In This Closet and bargain priced FCUK clothes over at Cheap Thrills.

Please support our community’s efforts to revitalize our commercial strip by taking some time to visit and support these exciting pop-up enterprises.

We need your help tomorrow night!

Dear Neighbours,

DECA’s Renew East Danforth Team has been hard at work painting and scrubbing multiple storefronts along the Danforth in preparation for a pop-up bonanza for the month of December. (You’ll here more details on that shortly)

1872 Danforth Avenue was our last storefront to come available.  This soon-to-be beautiful space will be the December home of CareerFit Mom.  However, the space needs a little elbow grease to make it shine, and we are quite anxiously looking for some extra people to help out.  Tomorrow, Thursday November 29, starting at 7:00 p.m.  the team will descend upon this space – if you can offer an hour or two (or three!) of your time and effort, we would be so very, very grateful.
