Countdown to this weekend’s Arts Fair

The countdown is on for the 4th annual Danforth East Arts Fair, which you no doubt know by now will be held in East Lynn Park this weekend! Not only will more than 50 artists be showcasing their wares, but a crack team of craftmaking experts is offering your children the chance to make some of their own — for free, all weekend long.

Whether your kids are interested in jewellery, clay or something in between, the fine folks from the Silly Goose Kids, LucSculpture and Mrs. Darling’s have got you covered. And if they’re the kind of kids who like to make noise (and who doesn’t?), we’ll also be hosting a children’s noisemaker parade on Sunday afternoon to hand out awards to our participating artists. The full schedule appears below. Look for the bright red tents near the path!
The Danforth East Arts Fair runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 15 & 16 in East Lynn Park. The fair will feature more than 50 artists, musical performances, children’s crafts, light food fare and much more. The Market This Week – Crafts and Bike Clinic!

Cheese curd, fresh bread, just-picked rasberries, pretty perfect pie pastry, BEANS!, rice balls, local lettuce and your choice of farm-fresh veggies.

What?  That’s not enough to draw you down to the East Lynn Farmers’ Market?

O.k.  Well, this week in the crafting kids corner, Melissa  is crafting some make believe with super hero masks and fancy pocketbooks at 3:30. This one is drop in and all the supplies for the super hero masks are supplied. If your little one would like to make the pocket book, please bring a scarf, boa or necklace for the handle. Recycle something from home or hit up the Value Village on the way! Donations are graciously accepted for future crafts supplies.

As always face painting starts at 4:30. And check out our awesome hand-made-super-beautiful fair games. Ring toss and bean bag throw. Try your hand and win…well win the adoration of your family.

The wading pool will be open.  DECA volunteers helped prepare and paint the pool earlier this year to paint over the graffiti.  Many thanks again to the volunteers who did the handy work. It looks great!  Watch this space for information about how you can help donate funds to cover the cost of painting the pool.

The fabulous Melanie has arranged not one, but two DECA bike clinics.  The first is this Thursday July 14th at the Farmers Market. Have a question, have a problem, bring your bike and get some answers.  The bike doctors will be seeing patients from 3 to 7 p.m.

The second clinic will be July 23rd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Main Square (S.E. corner of Main and Danforth). There will be 10 bike mechanics with stands, tools and some spare parts, etc. This is a pay what you can event.

Next week is the corn roast and family picnic. Stay tuned!

Crafts At The Market

It was a great turn out for this year’s first craft at the East Lynn Farmer’s Market.  This week, get ready for some fashion-forward ‘up cycling’.  Turn your old t-shirt into an awesome re-usable grocery bag or an oh-so-chic fringe scarf.  3:30 p.m.
RSVP soon to reserve a spot! decacrafts(at)gmail.com. Participants are asked to bring the t-shirt to re-use. A graphic patterned tee is great for the scarf and a screen printed one looks great turned into the grocery bag. All other necessities will be supplied.
