Local helping opportunity

The Holiday Hamper Program is a yearly program organized by Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services (Barrington site), for low income and new Canadian families. This program helps families to have a memorable holiday, with good nutritious meals, gifts and other items so that they can truly enjoy the holiday season as a family.

You can adopt a family to buy for or make cash or in-kind donations.

For more info contact: Keisha Cooke at kcooke@accessalliance.ca or 416-698-1626, ext. 204

Last year, the Holiday Hamper Program assisted 105 families, thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers. These contributions help to support 190 children and 144 adults. Can you help this year?

Act Now! Final Danforth Garage Master Plan Community Meeting

CreateTO and City of Toronto are holding the final community meeting to present the Master Plan for the Danforth Garage Site on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Monarch Park Collegiate (1 Hanson Street) from 6-9pm.

The final meeting for the Master Plan for the Danforth Garage Site will illustrate the selected locations for the 3 anchor tenants: the TTC, the Police and the Toronto Public Library. It will determine access through the site, locations for public spaces and areas for new construction.

To make your voice heard and contribute to the discussion, head over to the meeting to participate!

This development, if done well, has the potential to bring vibrancy to the Danforth, provide the community with well designed public spaces and accommodate much needed community amenities.

Hope to see you there!

December 1st!

Jeepers! Although we had record-breaking gloominess and cold in November, how is it all of a sudden December??

There are a few cool things to do tomorrow (December 1) so here they are!

And don’t forget to move your car if your parking changes the first of the month. Oh, and get out and shop this amazing neighbourhood.

The parade sets out at 12pm from the shop this Saturday December 1st. And they are asking attending community members and participants to bring an item for donation to the Toronto Holiday Toy and Food Drive.

Old’s Cool Solstice Tree Lighting!

Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/362546907832176/?ti=icl

From Zahra & Mariko:

Come One, Come All!

Help us invite the light and greet the holiday season with community cheer and togetherness. This years annual solstice tree lighting event comes a bit early but we figured everyone could use a little bit of extra light right about now.

As per usual, we will have a sing-along, food (samosas and sweet treats), cider and hot chocolate, and giveaways. This year we will have lots of local celebrities to meet and greet including Rima Berns-McGown (our Ontario MPP), Nathaniel Erskine-Smith (our MP), and our new city Councillor Brad Bradford. The sing-along will be led by local dog-walker, Earth Mother Goddess and Ruby’s mom: Rachel! Song sheets will be handed out.

This is our favourite event every year because we get to see all of our neighbours together in one place. Can’t wait to see you!

7:00pm

Ends Dec 1
