Market this week: Community Fridges, Kids’ Crafts, Corn and more!

We were lucky to get the very first harvest of corn last week from Son-in-Law Produce — so tasty! Our market meals are getting pretty decadent these days, with other ingredients like crunchy green beans, juicy berries, and any number of freshly made sweet, salty, and hoppy treats.

This week we are hoping we can share some of that market bounty with our friends at Community Fridges, who will be on hand to collect market food and non-perishables from our market-goers. And we’re going to make it all a little bit festive, with button-making for the Story Trail, crafts with Karina Sadu Realty, live music, and treasures from the Kidpreneurs!

Market this week: music, math, kidpreneurs, SURJ and more!

We’ve got a big line-up at the market this week. Remember, the market runs rain or shine and our farmers, vendors and special guests really depend on the community to show up when they can!

Kids’ Tent: Kidpreneurs, Fun With Music Together, and Rithmetic

This week we have Alicia’s Figurines and Tia Designs in our Kidpreneur tents. We look forward to seeing what treasures they have for us!

Also in the kids’ area, Fun With Music Together will have a music activity and Rithmetic will have math games and puzzles!

We will also have glitter tattoos and updates on the DECA Story Trail in the DECA tent.

Local Business Popup Booth and Rotating Vendors

We are excited to welcome back Wholesome DeeLights Nut Butters! (good news for those of us that *may* have blown through that hazelnut chocolate we got last month). Rotating vendors this week are: Bata Maple Syrup and Beef, and Red Tape Brewery.

Community Booth: Showing Up for Racial Justice

SURJ will be at the market this week to share info about their upcoming activities, including the Toronto Disability March happening on July 15th. SURJ is supporting this action by volunteering as marshals and doing postering.

The other upcoming initiative SURJ is supporting is a Grassy Narrows Solidarity rally – SURJ had a Land Defence Alliance team that is supporting this action and also planning a large demonstration that will happen at the end of the summer.

Grassy Narrows leaders and other members of the five nations will be in Toronto on July 20th with a rally at 12pm near the Ministry of Mines to demand respect for Indigenous rights. You can RSVP here – https://freegrassy.net/land-alliance-rally-july20th
