DECA Tree has teamed up with Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests (LEAF) to present a day of local tree appreciation and care on Sunday, July 6, 2014. The day starts at Norwood Park (south of Gerrard, between Woodbine and Main) and ends at East Lynn Park.
Come for the whole day, or meet us at East Lynn Park at 12:30pm if you want to stay in the ‘hood!
The Market This Week: Dinner, Storytime and Pegasus
Come for the produce, stay for dinner! To make sure you have enough time in your day for a trip to your favourite local market, why not let the market take care of dinner planning and spend the whole evening at the park. No need to pack a picnic yourself, a number of farmers and vendors would love to serve you dinner! The full list of farmers and vendors can be found on our website.


The featured winery this week is Tawse Winery from Vineland, Ontario.
At 4:30 p.m. Toronto Public Library will be hosting storytime for the little ones. Please pull up a piece of grass and enjoy! DECA Tree will be back this week with information about the adopt-a-tree program for the new trees planted in the park and general tree health.
Wellness Booth
Join Pegasus Studios at the Market! Pegasus Studios will be set up from 3:30-6:30. Visit their table to learn more about what Pegasus offers for young dancers, artists, actors and musicians. They are focused on the healthy development of children in a positive and fun environment. After the Story Time, at 5:15, Pegasus director, Jane Davis-Munro and faculty will pass on some of their most popular dance activities for healthy brain development, coordination and fun fitness. Parents, will learn invaluable activities to do with their young ones at home to keep their mind and body active with dance!

My weather app tells me the sun is coming out tomorrow afternoon with a temperature of 24C. That seems perfect for an evening at the farmers market!
DECA TREE will be at the market this week sharing information about an Adopt-a-Park Tree Program for East Lynn Park. A number of new trees were planted in the park last fall by the City of Toronto and DECA Tree is looking for volunteers who are passionate about keeping them alive. Come talk to them at the DECA Booth.
BeeHappy will be our community guest with information on bees and bee hives for sale.
This week’s winery will be 13th Street Winery.
Kids Korner
Our fabulous friends at Silly Goose Kids will be at the market with a fun-filled activity for kids at 4:30 p.m. Also, stop by the face-painting tent area to build your own flag in preparation for Canada Day.
Wellness Booth
Wellness guest Tanya Mouland offers specialized brain-based movement life skills coaching to improve the following: academics and literacy, mental health, speech, performance, posture and balance. She uses a powerful combination of Brain Gym, Movement Exploration and Rhythmic Movement Training. She is offering special mini sessions to release stress patterns June 26th from 4 to 7:00 p.m. (by donation).

Merrill Park Dog Association AGM–This Monday!
MERRILL PARK DOG ASSOCIATION (MPDG) Annual General Meeting This Monday, June 23
Do you and your four-legged friend enjoy the benefits of the Merrill Dog Park? Consider getting involved, since the City requires an active dog owners association for the off leash designation to continue to exist.
The annual general meeting is the perfect opportunity to start. Socialize with other dog parents, get park updates and support the dog park iniatives.
The meeting starts at 7pm, Monday June 23 at Groove Bar, 1952 Danforth Ave.
