Navel Gazing At The Naval Club

DECA’s intrepid executive committee member, Mary Vallis, attended this meeting today for us at City Hall.  She reports that it was on the agenda as the ‘Naval Club of Toronto’ – the same group that was doing the renovations when the building collapsed.  The owner wasn’t there, but was represented.

The Naval Club proposed a building consistent with the height, area and use of the old one.  The main differences are a slightly larger basement (ground floor and basement are commercial) as well as seven residential units on the 2nd and 3rd floors, where there used to be only six.

The neighbours to the east and west, as well as some residential neighbours provided letters of support. No one spoke in opposition.

The variance was unanimously approved.
