Don’t forget DECA’s historical tour of the Danforth by East York Mirror columnist, Joe Cooper. There are still about 10 spots left.
Joe has deep roots in our neighbourhood. His grandfather started a butcher shop at the corner of Woodbine and Danforth in the 1920s, which his father took over. The family bought one of the first cars in the area – a Model A Ford — which they used for deliveries. The problem? When his granddad took his first spin, he didn’t know how to work the thing, including the breaks, so he simply spun around the block until the gas ran out.
Joe’s two-hour tour, ”The Midway Meander,” will run THIS Sunday Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. starting at Greenwood Subway Station (front doors). It is free for DECA members. But to keep the crowd manageable, we are asking you to RSVP. Please email Catherine at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to be added to the list, and put “The Midway Meander” in the subject line.
