I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night

The Black Eyed Peas summer anthem (noted in the headline) is the soundtrack for today.

What to do with this incredible summer evening?  Get yourself over to the East Lynn Market.  The food is incredible right now.  How can you resist the freshly picked peaches?  It promises to be one of those lovely summer evenings where you see your neighbours, buy some treats and generally feel good about the place where you live.

  1. Wow! The array of vegetables available at yesterday’s market was fantastic.

Bought delicous yellow tomatoes (these are low-acid) and novel golden beets (look forward to having these this evening).

My other favourite find was a wonderful loaf of whole wheat flax bread – made with wheat grown and ground right on the premises where they make the bread. Talk about fresh bread!

Thank you DECA organizers and local farmers for providing such a great market for us.

  2. We try to never miss the Market–even with all the rainy Thursdays we’ve endured this summer. But yesterday in the sun the Market was really special.

Of course we really love the fruits and vegetables. And this year we’re enjoying the organic lamb and the bison burgers/sausages. But I think the best part of our Market is the neighbourhood experience and the chance to connect with the people who grow our food.

Thank you Deca. This is the best thing that’s happened to our little part of the Danforth in the 20 years I’ve lived here.

  3. amazing how quick people forget about the market just up the road at the EY Civic centre tha’t been there for years.

  4. I agree Hugh. We need to support the whole vicinity, not just our own little pocket. But DECA is doing a great job as is the Danforth East BIA Mosaic, and many others.

Let’s keep the positive momentum for our community moving!
