If there is anything that will make you feel like spring, it’s digging a whack of dirt out from under your fingernails.
The next meeting of the East York Community Garden is Tuesday, April 15th at 7 p.m. That’s tomorrow!
The East York Community Garden Network has developed a community garden at 9 Haldon Ave. (east of Woodbine, off Cosburn). There are 54 garden plots available for area residents, schools and organizations. Last year they added a native species garden and raised beds, and will be expanding later this spring with more in-ground plots.
They will also be talking about seeds that can be started in the ground early – as soon as the plots are cleared.
You might be surprised to find that you can have a spring crop of spinach and peas and other delectables before you plant your warm weather goodies.
And if you do have a spring crop of spinach and you have too much, you can drop some off at my house.
