Some of you will know that there is a very large house being built at the corner of Coxwell and Glebeholme. The builder did not receive permission to build a house that size from the City of Toronto so he appealed the City’s decision to the Ontario Municipal Board.
Last week the OMB handed down it’s decision in favour of the City…meaning the builder is still not allowed to build a house that size on that particular lot. Trouble is, much of the house has been built and has been sitting there waiting for the OMB hearing. What happens next? Theoretically he should be taking down the parts of the house that exceed what the City has deemed appropriate. What will happen? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Councillor Janet Davis had been in touch with the neighbours in that area – many of whom were none too pleased at the size of the house – and had been working hard to ensure the needs of the community were front and centre for the OMB. Her office shared the OMB decision with me and I would be happy to share it with you. Drop me a note if you’d like me to send you the PDF.
