According to the experts at Foodland Ontario, August is the best month for fresh, Ontario fruit and vegetables.  One walk through the East Lynn Park Farmers’ Market and one would have to agree.  The colours of the blueberries, peaches, broccoli, corn and beets make a complete rainbow of delicious food to choose from. Why not challenge yourself this week by buying as many colours as possible!

East Lynn Farmers’ Market this week

That nagging feeling about summer winding down is inevitable when we make that turn of the calendar to August.  Don’t despair! We have the cure for that feeling – come to the East Lynn Farmers’ Market and turn a regular Thursday night into a perfect summer experience.

Peaches

Peaches! Have you had your first taste of a glorious Ontario peach yet this season? I was eating some that I picked up at a farmers’ market up north the other day with my kids and I wasn’t even lying to them when I told them that they tasted like candy. (They agreed and a big fight ensued about who got to eat them, but I digress…) Pro tip: Bring a sturdy tote in which to get your peaches home.

Kids activity

The Toronto Public Library will be reading stories at 4:30pm.
