The Danforth East Community Association had a competition to celebrate the Gems in our neighbourhood. During a three week period, we’ve received more than 400 nominations for 100 businesses.
The Winning Gem
Our panel of judges crowned Gerrard Spaghetti and Pizza House the winning DECA Gem on May 14, 2015. Gerrard Pizza won a full marketing maker by professional DECA volunteers. Read more and see photos on the blog here.

Our panel of judges for the “Battle of the Gems” includes CBC Metro Morning’s music columnist Errol Nazareth, Spacing Magazine publisher Matthew Blackett, local restauranteur and world oyster shucking champion Patrick McMurray, Ray Coburn, keyboard player for the Kim Mitchell Band, Danforth Mosaic BIA chair Billy Dertilis (Red Rocket Coffee), and DECA Chair, Sheri Hebdon and past Chair, Anita Schretlen.
